Charlie Larson
Charlie Larson is a junior at the University of Rhode Island, pursuing a double degree in classical saxophone performance and music education. He is a native of Long Island, New York, and began his musical training at the age of five. Prior to his undergraduate work at URI with Dr. Jared Sims in classical and jazz saxophone styles, Charlie studied the instrument with Brent Miller and Tom Brown. He has also studied clarinet with Dr. Bogdan Scurtu and piano with Meghan Williams. In addition to his solo work, Charlie plays in University big bands, jazz combos and the University Wind Ensemble. He plays soprano saxophone in the University of Rhode Island Saxophone Quartet, and has played clarinet and French horn in the University Concert Band. Charlie is also among the first saxophones to play with the University of Rhode Island Symphony Orchestra. Charlie is passionate about music education and has been teaching privately in New York and Rhode Island for a number of years.
