Jeff
Deegan
Jeff Deegan served twenty-seven years as a musician with the United
States Navy Band where he performed on piano, guitar and bass
in a wide variety of musical settings. He was the leader and musical
director for several groups during his career and regularly performed
before the nation's highest-ranking military and civilian leaders.
He's played for Foreign Heads of State and U.S. presidents at
various functions including several White House events. He's also
performed before thousands of people at our nation's 4th of July
celebrations on the National Mall and with renowned singer Liza
Minnelli for the Bicentennial of the US Capitol.
The last five years of his career Jeff played piano for the Navy's
premier eighteen piece jazz ensemble where he had the opportunity
to perform with musicians such as legendary vibraphonist/band
leader Terry Gibbs at the Percussive Arts Society International
Convention, trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval at the Walt Disney
World Jazz Festival and tenor sax/flute artist Lew Tabackin at
the International Saxophone Symposium. He's also played at the
Detroit Montreux Jazz Festival and the International Association
of Jazz Educators conference in New York City.
Jeff was also the producer for 11 nationally distributed recording
projects and performed on numerous recordings and thousands of
concerts nationwide and abroad throughout his career.
After retiring from the Navy Band Jeff became Director of the
School of Music for a K-12 private school in Waldorf, MD where
he taught up to 60 students per week and was involved in preparing
students for musicianship tests and competitive festivals.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Berklee College of
Music in Boston, MA and has been teaching piano, guitar and bass
at More Than Music since 2006.
